Trump supporters may come to regret court ruling

For all of the MAGA supporters out there who are perhaps pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling in former President Donald Trump’s immunity case, think again. The Supreme Court just gave carte blanche to the presidency — not to any particular president, mind you, but to the office itself.

While this is currently very favorable for Trump should he prevail in November, just think about what it means for the future. Do we really want the president of the United States to be above the law? While the justices in the majority did not grant immunity for “unofficial acts,” they left the door open for endless discussion on what constitutes “official” versus “unofficial” acts.

Determining that is nearly impossible. Therefore, in essence, the president is now a king. How ironic that on the very first day of July, the month when we the people celebrate our independence from the tyranny of a king, we are now headed toward the embrace of a monarchy, and not a benevolent one at that.

Word to the wise: Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.
