Hollywood actor caught up in heated clash with Trump supporters in New York

A no-nonsense Hollywood heavyweight has engaged in a fiery clash with Trump supporters after speaking outside the former president’s hush money trial on behalf of the Biden campaign.

Closing arguments are underway in Donald Trump’s criminal trial.

The former US president’s lawyers have given the jurors ten reasons why he should not be convicted.

Mr Trump said he has been a victim of blackmail and has criticised the star witness.

As closing arguments were being made in Trump’s hush money trial in New York state court, the Biden campaign made a loud attempt to redirect attention on the former president’s role in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol building.

De Niro, 80, was joined by former police officers who were first responders in the incident at the Capitol, as they turned up outside the Manhattan courthouse to take advantage of a momentous day in the Trump case.

While the Biden campaign was initially hesitant to engage with the Trump trial, according to AP, it eventually made the decision in order to cut through the high public interest and send a message to voters.

The Goodfellas actor was fired up as he delivered a speech on Tuesday morning at a press conference, warning Americans’ freedoms would vanish if Trump was voted to return to office in the 2024 Presidential election.

“Under Trump, this kind of government will perish from the Earth. I don’t mean to scare you. No, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye, that we all take for granted,” he said.

“And elections, forget about it. That’s over, that’s done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will never leave.”

De Niro went on to call Trump a “loser”, “tyrant” and “clown” in the speech before later lashing out at protesters in a heated encounter.

Vision of the clash shows the veteran actor amongst a crowd of reporters and security while biting back and pointing at protesters he labelled “gangsters”.

The protesters responded referring to De Niro as “washed up” and slamming his movies, to which the actor replied: “F*** you”, before being escorted away.

A separate Trump press conference argued the presence of the President’s team only supported Trump’s claims his prosecutions were being driven by politics, a suggestion strongly refuted by Biden campaign communication director Michael Tyler.

“We’re not here today because of what’s going on over there,” Mr Tyler told reporters.

“We’re here today because you all are here.”

While De Niro’s appearance was praised by supporters of the Biden campaign, his involvement was lashed by others as “pathetic” and “desperate attention”.

Goodfellas star Robert De Niro has had a complete meltdown over the prospect of Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election.

De Niro appeared on ABC’s The View on Tuesday, where the show had to mute the actor four times during his rant.

The 80-year-old compared the former president to dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

“I don’t understand why people are not taking him seriously, because you read about it historically in other countries that they didn’t take the people seriously,” he said.

De Niro recently blasted Trump as a “sick person” and a “stupid bully” while on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour last week.

Trump has also criticised the actor, with the former president calling De Niro a “total loser” last year.

“I’d like to thank Robert De Niro for making people want to vote more for President Trump today more than ever!” one remarked sarcastically on X.

“I remember a time Robert De Niro was a good actor. Now he’s just hysterical,” another wrote.

“What is this rambling De Niro trying to accomplish besides proving he’s lost his mind,” a third said.

De Niro’s outraged appearance comes just two weeks after he joined talk show The View, and had to be censored several times in a foul-mouthed tirade against Trump.

Actor Robert De Niro is “beyond help” after revealing his “paranoid fantasies” about Donald Trump in an interview with Bill Maher, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.

The famous actor appeared on HBO’s Real Time with Biller Maher where he claimed people would be voting for a “nightmare” if they voted for the former president in the election.

“If he wins the election, you (Bill Maher) won’t be on the show anymore, he will come looking for me,”

“There will be things that will happen that none of us could imagine.”

He added that a vote for President Joe Biden would lead America “back to normalcy”.
