Trump and Biden in close fight in this key swing state: Poll

Pennsylvania appears poised for a close electoral contest yet again, following closely contested races in both 2016 and 2020.

The state, known for its crucial role in presidential elections, witnessed former President Donald Trump winning by a slim margin in 2016, while President Biden secured a narrow victory in 2020.

The latest Fox News Poll indicates a tight race for the 2024 presidential election, with Trump leading Biden by a slight margin of 49% to 47% among registered voters in Pennsylvania, a difference falling within the survey’s margin of error.

Both candidates have maintained their respective party bases, with approximately 90% of Democrats and Republicans supporting their expected nominees. In a hypothetical five-candidate race, the competition results in a deadlock, with Biden and Trump each receiving 42% support.

Diverse voter groups show varied support, with nonwhite voters, college-educated White voters, suburban women, and senior citizens tending to back Biden. Conversely, Trump finds strong support among White evangelical Christians, White men without a college degree, rural voters, and Generation X individuals.

In scenarios where the MAGA movement’s influence is reduced, Trump’s support diminishes slightly, particularly in a five-way race scenario, indicating a fragmented Republican allegiance among non-MAGA supporters.

According to Republican pollster Daron Shaw, part of the Fox News Poll team, Pennsylvania’s economic outlook seems slightly more positive than in other battleground states, benefiting Biden among those who view the economy as stable or improving.

The most critical issue for Pennsylvanian voters remains the economy, with the majority expressing neutrality or positivity regarding their financial situations. Other significant concerns include election integrity and immigration/border security, with notable partisan divides on issue priorities.

Regarding issue management, Biden and Trump each hold advantages in certain areas, with Biden seen as more capable in election integrity and Trump perceived as stronger in economic and immigration matters.

Character traits such as mental soundness and honesty emerge as vital for voters, influencing their preference between Biden and Trump based on these criteria.

Despite the current tight race, the political landscape in Pennsylvania remains fluid, with future changes in economic perceptions and candidate evaluations potentially impacting voter decisions.

Fox News’ recent survey indicates a slight preference for Republican candidates in US House matchups within the state, underscoring Pennsylvania’s continued significance in the 2024 electoral landscape.
